Lunar #66: Rima Hadley
The Montes Apenninus fall off steeply toward Mare Imbrium. Mixed in with the foothills are several rimae, among them the winding lava channel Rima Hadley very close to the mountains. Apollo 15 landed here in 1971. There is only a specific lunar phase when the shadows of the mountains are short enough and yet the Sun low enough that the rima can gernerate its own shadows.
